A Day of Fun in the Sun

Another Great Day Down Under!

This morning we got a fairly early start at 7:30 to eat breakfast and to make our way to the pier to take a boat across to Fitzroy Island. For those of you in Ohio it was a lot like the ferry ride to Put-In-Bay.

Once we got to the island we took a glass bottom boat tour of the coral reef, and it was beautiful. I'm glad we got to do that first because the morning was pretty cloudy, but by the time we got back the sun was out and shining! As soon as the boat docked we got off and took a kayak tour around about 1/4 of the island where we got to see a sea turtle and a ray. Kayaking was fun, but I certainly got in my arm workout for the whole year!

After our long journey back against the wind it was time for our boxed lunches and to spend a little time laying in the sun. The main beaches at this island were covered in coral instead of sand, so it hurt a little to lay down, but you got over it after a while. I found some gorgeous shells and pieces of coral to bring back to the states! After a little nap and some desperately needed time in the sun I got up with a few people to snorkel around the reef and jump on the trampoline set up in the water. This island had many other areas to explore as well as a hotel on site, and I have decided it would be the perfect place for a honeymoon or weekend getaway if you are ever out this way. It was a gorgeous day on the beach in the sun, but unfortunately it was time to head back to the mainland for a shower and dinner as well as another night out.

Although I went out it was an early night to bed because tomorrow I am going scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef!
